Flowers from the front yard …

This is the first time ever that I am able to pick some flowers from my little front yard to put them in a vase. Looks and feels very good. Although I am not very happy about the picture. Time for a real digital camera.

On the way to jail …

One more reason to love Rube Waddell. Not only do they perform Mack the Knife on the sidewalks of San Francisco and the do best shows at the Odeon. But today Saturday afternoon, while other Musicians were sleeping they went to Laguna. Not the racetrack, nooo, to one of this country’s largest assisted living centers, Laguna Honda Hospital, right here in San Francisco to entertain the …

It was a blast …

How better to spend a Sunday afternoon as at a junk yard where some tinkerers have build race cars out of old power tools. My favorite was the one to the left. It uses an old chain saw engine and in place of an exhaust pipe he attached a trombone. It wasn’t the fastest powertool today and when it raced the engine and the people …

Check this out …

A couple of years ago I went to Fort Mason to see the final day of Robot Wars. It was all fenced off behind thick Plexiglas and everything was geared towards a TV audience. Brought back great childhood memories. It was often the first warm Sunday, which felt great after a cold Winter. You would breath in the air and everyone was happy. After 40 days of lent you were so looking forward to …

DaveNet : NY Times archive is back

Hurray. This is really good news. I was afraid that all the links that I created to New York Times strories would be useless now.

You know the world’s gone mad when …

Got this quote sent to me a couple of times over the last couple of days. I like it a lot. Especially that the punch line points out that my home country, Germany, contrary to popular believe are a peace loving nation, at least currently: You know the world’s gone mad when the best rapper is a white guy, the best golfer is a black guy, …

After two days of silence: Where is Read is back.

This blog gives you a different perspective, the one from within Baghdad. Now I always think of him, when I hear B52 bombers started from the British airfield. Six hours later it is raining bombs. But it also shows, that the precision bombing is hitting the targets. The quote on his page also made me think: “the West won the world …
