Christmas Eve Eve

A picture named Tannenbaum.JPGA picture named christmas tree with burning candles 2.JPGI admit, that I am very proud of my first Christmas tree. Today my neighbors came over to check it out and we lit the candles and sang some German Christmas Carols and had a great Christmas Eve Eve. Felt almost like home.

It is a big difference to have real candles on the Christmas tree, the light, the warmth, the scent the flickering all that makes it a much nicer experience.

With a little bit of caution the open flame is not a problem. Get your tree late, and only bring it in the house shortly before the celebration, so that it is not totally dry. With all the rain in San Francisco lately that wasn’t a problem this year.

Get one that has thick branches, so that the candle holder can actually grip on to something. Place the candles so that there is no branch right above them and you are all set.

Growing up in Germany I never heard of any houses burning down because of Christmas candles. I think it is a overblown fear like the “Apples with Razorblades Halloween Candy” fear.

Froehliche Weihnachten / Merry Christmas / Happy Holidays to all of you.

  4. A Beautiful Tree! I would never be brave enought to use real candles, but I certainly admire those who do.
