Edward Said was often interviewed on KPFA regarding the situation in the Middle East and I liked his reasoning and clarity. KPFA just rebroadcasted an interview he gave three years ago, where he talked about his life. His death is a great loss for peace and humanity.
The Irish critic Seamus Deane described him as: “That rare figure: a truly public intellectual who has a powerful influence within the academy and also a potent public presence. He’s a very brilliant reader, of both texts and political situations.”
