Brian Eno in the Time Magazine: The U.S. Needs to Open Up to the World

Only now I get around to link to this great piece from Brian Eno. “… But since Sept. 11, that vision has been eclipsed by a suspicious, introverted America, a country-sized version of that peculiarly American form of ghetto: the gated community.”  Another time, I will write a bit more why gated communities frighten me.

Super frightening: 800 missiles to hit Iraq in the first 48 hours …

Sydney Morning Harold writes: ” … between 300 and 400 cruise missiles would fall on Iraq each day for two consecutive days. It would be more than twice the number of missiles launched during the entire 40 days of the 1991 GulfWar.” The same newspaper suggests a way out of the conflict by restoring the credibility of the weapons inspections …

Letters to the editor spamming …

Search for the phrase Bush “demonstrating genuine leadership” in Google News and the truth comes out, that newspapers have been spammed with the same letter to the editor, just under different names: For the San Francisco Chronicle it is Ryan J. Evans from Atherton. (Link to a whole list of them.)

New Years Resolution …

This year only one big resolution: MMM Make More Music The fun we had this Christmas and New Years Eve with playing music and singing songs convinced me that there has to be more self made music in my life. As the band They Might be Giants put on one of their t-shirts: Music self-played is happiness self-made. So true. …

New Year New Post …

Welcome to the new year. Time for the resolutions that are named after it, but first let’s look at last year’s and check how much the reality is in sync with the good intentions: 1. Weekly posting on this weblog. More personal too, as this is already. Yes, proud about it. O.K. I went weeks, even one month without updating my …
